A Taiwanese teen gamer, known only as Chuang, died after a 40-hour Diablo III gaming binge.
The teenager reserved a private room at an Internet cafe in southern Taiwan and played the hit game for two straight days without eating. After an entire work week’s worth of gaming, an internet cafe employee found Chuang resting on a table. After the attendant woke him, he took a few steps and then collapsed. The teenager was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital. This is the second death in Taiwan this year tied to excessive gaming, a man in New Taipei was found dead, with his arms still reaching out for the keyboard, in February after playing a video game for 23 consecutive hours.
It is speculated that long hours in a sedentary position created cardiovascular problems for Chuang.
