Apple and Intel rumoured to be working on iWatch

Rumour has it that Apple and Intel are collaborating to produce a smart watch in 2013. There are already a number of these things on the market, being over glorified bluetooth notification centers for smartphones powered by Android.
But what is curious about this rumour is that this alleged Apple and Intel project will no doubt use some form of x86 processor, which would be a bit of a departure for Apple considering every IOS device they`ve made so far is ARM based. Details are scarce at the moment, consisting of:

1.5-inch PMOLED display made by RiTDisplay
covered by ITO-coated glass
Bluetooth 4.0
wristwatch form factor (duh)
IOS?

what would make something like this just a bit more useful is the addition to an ultra low powered wi-fi module baked it. i really don`t need a smartphone notification center on my wrist considering my phone is just a pocket away.
