In the first quarter of 2012 Apple’s $39.2 billion more than doubled Microsoft’s $17.41 billion in sales.
Apple took in $22.7 billion during the March quarter just from iPhone sales. This means a single Apple product was responsible for 30% more revenue than Microsoft’s entire business. With Apple’s “iPhone 5” being released next month, along with the possibility of an iPad mini and Apple TV revamp, It will be interesting to look at these numbers after the holiday quarter when Microsoft finally releases its new Windows 8 operating system.
