At an event in Los Angeles, Microsoft unveiled its tablet offerings called Surface.
Here`s a quick break down between the 2 models:
Surface for Windows RT

- Runs Windows 8
- Powered by an Intel Core i5 (Ivy Bridge) processor
- Weighs 903 grams
- 13.5mm thick
- 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD Display
- 42 W-h battery
- microSDXC, USB 3.0, a Mini Display port video socket, 2x2 MIMO antennae for better Wi-Fi
- Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen with Palm Block for writing on the screen
- VaporMg Case and stand construction
- 64GB and 128GB storage capacity
The surface is 9.3-millimeter thick, has a magnesium case that weighs less than 1.5 pounds and features a kick stand to prop the device up while watching videos or typing on a Bluetooth keyboard. The 10.6-inch high-definition display on the Surface is Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and it includes a magnetic connector to hold a case in place.
Also included with the Surface: Xbox live, Netflix app, USB 2.0 and HDMI-out ports, and front and rear facing cameras. Surface will be powered by an Intel Ivy Bridge i5 processor.
Surface supports finger and stylus input, as well as 600 dpi “Digital Ink” for drawing, writing and marking up documents.
Two Surface tablet models will be available, a Windows 8 Pro and one running Windows RT, pricing is said to be “like comparable tablets based on ARM” (think iPad) for the RT model, and comparable with current Ultrabooks for the Windows 8 Pro version. The Windows RT model will be come with either 32GB or 64GB of storage, and the Windows 8 Pro model will come with either 64GB or 128GB of storage.
The Surface RT will be released alongside Windows 8 with the Pro version coming out 3 months later, think early 2013.
