This from CPUworld:
"AMD Piledriver microarchitecture was officially launched in May, but only now AMD releases desktop and server products, based on it. Entry-level and mid-cass "Piledriver" APUs were introduced on October 2nd, and high-end FX parts will be available on October 23.
AMD also plans to launch next-generation server processors, which will be branded as Opteron 4300- and 6300-series. The Opteron CPUs will be demonstrated to public at SC12 conference in Salt Lake City, UT, that will take place from November 12 to November 15."
quick points:

* 0.032 micron
* Server CPU
* Up to 8 cores
* Up to 3.4 GHz
* 8 MB L3 cache
* 64-bit
* SSE4, AES, AVX instructions
* Virtualization
* Turbo boost
* 2-way processing
Socket C32
Opteron 6300
* Piledriver microarchitecture
* 0.032 micron
* Server CPU
* Up to 16 cores
* Up to 3.5 GHz
* 16 MB L3 cache
* 64-bit
* SSE4, AES, AVX instructions
* Virtualization
* Turbo boost
* 4-way processing
Socket G34
no word yet as to how power hungry these are or at what clock speed they will run. It will be interesting to see how piledriver performs in a server environment, stay tuned for first benches when they drop.
